The Grove, upholding tradition

On one wall of this intimate bar is a photograph of the opening day of the Scottish National Exhibition which took place at nearby Kelvingrove Park. The streets are lined with people and, in one corner, you can clearly see The Grove. That was in May 1911 and it's hard to imagine that anything about this traditional bar, with its committed band of locals, has changed much since then. From the old-fashioned mirrors displaying beer adverts (My goodness - my Guinness) to the colourful stained-glass image of a cottage on the front door, it's everyone's idea of a friendly local. Despite its size, The Grove has two Sky boxes for double the horseracing action and it's also popular for the Sunday-night pub quiz with bar-tab prizes.
